While our second day in Costa Rica was physically exhausting, we fortunately had a very relaxing day ahead of us on day three! We slept in, then spent the rest of our morning poolside relaxing in the sun. Our section of the Westin had a private pool area, which we took full advantage of. Since our honeymoon was during their "off season," we almost had free rein of the place to ourselves.
Ahh...no noisy children...

Our C&P engagement hugger made the trip with us
Strawberry daiquiri
(the fruit was so delicious it attracted all the local bees, so we had to eat it fast to keep them away)

After a couple of hours of relaxation, we became hungry, so we journeyed to the snack bar by the main pool and grabbed some grub. It offered many simple delights, such as sandwiches, burgers, nachos, and chicken fingers.
But more importantly, they had pizza...nom nom nom!
After our delicious lunch, we returned to our room for a quick siesta. We were really exerting ourselves...

They kept our fridge stocked with waters, soft drinks, and beer!
We also had snacks to help get us through each day

We had a relaxing siesta, then decided to go exploring around the resort. Carolyn took some photos of the surrounding flowers and trees, while I concentrated on my Imperial (local Costa Rican beer). We also ventured out onto the beach to dip our toes back in the Pacific. It was a slow, lazy walk during the afternoon, but a pace we thoroughly enjoyed after the previous day's activities.

Jet skis anyone?

We had a couple's massage set up at the spa later that evening, so it was time to rinse the sand off our bodies and prepare for ultimate relaxation. During our walk back to the room, we made another friend - Chris the Coati.
In case you didn't know, coatis are members of the racoon family and have a large snout with a formidable sense of smell to help locate food. Their diet consists of fruit and small prey (lizards, rodents, and small birds).
He completely ignored us at first...
...but then we became friends!
Our adventure at the spa was largely uneventful. I was a little disappointed regarding the massage itself, but it was a fun experience and the facilities were quite impressive.
Meh...
We ate dinner at the same Italian place (Faisanela) we enjoyed so much during our first night at the resort. Our food was delicious yet again, and we stuffed ourselves before heading to the Disco Bar for a nightcap. Some of the resort staff were giving guests dancing lessons at the Disco Bar that evening, but we decided to sit back and enjoy watching others slide across the dance floor.

(they also called it the "sports bar", but I never saw any TVs...)
We called it a night after listening to the live band play some wicked local tunes. Our butler, Manfred, was kind enough to pick us up from the bar and drive us back to our building. It was a fun and relaxing day to say the least, but little did we know what the next day would bring...
